2010-11 Precon Championships: Make Your Predictions!

by Dredd77

The first round of exciting Precon Playoff action should be coming to you this weekend, so it’s time to start making your predictions! Here are the first round matches:

Think you can pick the winners? Remember, each correct pick is worth 1 point, and the person at the end of the 2010-11 Precon Playoff with the most points wins the contest! That lucky person will have a copy of Magic 2012’s Grab for Power as well as an Innistrad Intro Pack headed their way!

For those who’d like to brush up on how each deck looks, here are reviews for each of the upcoming contenders:

All posted predictions up until the moment the Nagle Division’s first round matches are posted (this weekend) will be accepted. So pull out the racing forms, sharpen those pencils, and let us know in the comments which decks will win in these first four matchups. Good luck!

Wait, you didn’t include links to the decklists, how are we supposed to decide? =(

Dragons could go either way since the decks are pretty much the same. I’ll go with the Archenemy one I guess.

Battle Cries has a shot against Knights if it gets good draws, but it also has clunky cards like Razorfield Rhino and Kuldotha Ringleader slowing it down. I think Knights takes it.

What cards are in Ravaging Swarm? Oh wait I don’t care because Deadspread sucks. Ravaging Swarm wins.

Which is better, the deck with clunky flyers that relies on clunky equipment to win, or the deck with efficient creatures and removal that relies on good equipment to win? War of Attrition wins, not close. Devouring Skies has one Doom Blade and one Darkslick Drake as the only cards that can beat a turn 2 Porcelain Legionnaire? Ick.

War of Attrition, Knights, and Ravaging Swarm all seem like pretty obvious choices, and I guess the dragon matchup will go to Scorch the World with Dragonfire.

Though I’ll laugh way too hard if the Dragon’s Claw from the duel deck pops up and ends up making an impact on any of those games. 😛

That would be awesome. Dragons wins thanks to Dragon’s Claw. xD

Love the site, love the idea.

Scorch the World with Dragonfire is better, I think.
The Knights are easily capable of beating the Battle Cry deck.
Infect > Proliferate, in this case. Ravaging Swarm.
War of Attrition wins this fight, easily.

    Looking forward to more!

The first match up is going to be difficult to predict however it appears that Dragons has the better Ramp options.
Knights has the better creature curve, as much as I like the battle cries Deck its going to be Knights
deadpsreads too slow which is why Ravaging Swarm will win.
War of attrition is the clear winner. And that should give you pause as even though its a Precon, its also a competitive Event deck based on Caw Blade which means in all likelihood it will win overall. Are you sure you want to put Event decks in this?

    Bottom line my choices:
    Dragons
    Knights
    Raving Swarm
    War of Attrition unless disqualified.

1- Scorch the world with dragonfire, archenemy decks are strong ones.
2- Knights, I just love them.
3- Ravaginf Swarm. Just a feeling on this one.
4- War of Attrition. Event decks are going to be the decks to beat this time.

I’ve been checking out this site for quite some time now, but I’ve never posted. So, I might as well start with your brackets. WOOT! Ertai’s August Madness! Unfortunately I’m going to agree with the majority of the bloggers:
    Dragonfire
    Knights
    Ravaging Swarm
    War of Attrition

Wow. This is quite a consensus for the most part.

I still think Dragons will overcome the archenemy dragon. Otherwise, I agree with the rest.

I think it’ll be the event deck and knights in the following round for this division. The event deck will probably win, but I’d love knights too.

The event decks are the decks to beat. Consistency is huge, but luck of the draw may defeat them.
