Quiet Speculation: The Best Precons of Innistrad Block
For those who haven’t read enough preconstructed contesnt today, Ertai’s Lament’s own Jay has another piece up over at Quiet Speculation! As he did with previous blocks, he ranks the top five Intro Pack decks- and throws in a top two Event Decks to boot!
Come on over and check it out– the results might surprise you!
Build a Magic 2013 Intro Pack Contest: Part 3
Two polls down, and the Goblin Artisans M13 Intro Pack deck we’re building is shaping up! In our first poll, we asked you to determine a colour pairing, and by a slender margin Blue/Black struck out ahead. This time, the results for selecting a theme were not close. By a landslide, the deck’s theme will be…
Build a Magic 2013 Intro Pack Contest: Part 2
The colour pairing poll went up earlier this week, and after the requisite four days we’re back with the results! The race was tightly-fought to the very end, but when the final buzzer sounded there could be only one winner.
News: M13 Intro Packs Revealed!
Today on the mothership, we’re been treated to a look at the upcoming Intro Packs (as well as the Fat Pack contents). The last time we saw legendary creatures in a core set was Tenth Edition, and a legendary creature anchored each of that set’s five mono-coloured Theme Decks.
Build a Magic 2013 Intro Pack Contest
There’s something about a competition that brings people together once it’s concluded. Certainly in my seasons playing Aussie Rules, there was nothing better than sharing tales on the day over a few pints with the opposition after the game. One could hardly expect things to be much different when the clash is in the arena of the mind instead of the body, and it is just this coming together that has inspired some of the more interesting collaborations in the Magic community today.
Ertai’s Meddling: Slaughterhouse on Gathering Magic
A new set means a new crop of precons, and that means building decks out of them! Over on Gathering Magic today, I rebuild the Slaughterhouse deck, breaking it down to its core essence and adding a secret ingredient.
Of course, the sharp-eyed readers of Ertai’s Lament might have already put their finger on it…
Come on over and check it out! If the spirit moves you, or you just want the editor to know how much you enjoy precon coverage on Gathering Magic, please consider leaving a comment as well.
News: Avacyn Restored Event Deck Decklists & Duel Decks: Izzet vs Golgari
It’s been quite a week for precon fans! Thanks to Magic Arcana on the mothership, we’ve had the next Duel Decks release revealed. Duel Decks: Izzet vs Golgari will be released on 07 September, 2012!
If that wasn’t enough, we’ve also been treated to the decklists for the upcoming Avacyn Restored Event Decks, which hit the shelves later this month on the 25th.
A lot to look forward to!
2005-07 Precon Championships: We Have a Winner
And so another Preconstructed Championship comes to an end, another deck added to the hall of heroes. It was a hard and bitterly contested contest over the course of nine weeks, and Endless March has much to be proud of. So to do the members of our Prediction League. As much fun as it was to stage this epic competition, it was made all the more so by the participation of our readership. The predictions, the explanations, and the banter back and forth made it a delight and success once again, and we are already looking forward to the next installment this Autumn.
2005-07 Precon Championships: The Grand Final
Welcome to the epic finale of the 2005-07 Preconstructed Championships! It’s been a titanic clash of decks from the Ravnica and Time Spiral blocks, Coldsnap, and Ninth Edition, but in the end for all the struggle on the battlefield, only one deck will write its name in the history books and go down as the season’s penultimate champion. The real star of the show has been Time Spiral block. With three of four semi-finalists hailing from that set of decks (indeed, two from Future Sight itself), their imprint on this season has been unmistakable. By the same token, Ravnica decks have surprisingly underperformed. The Golgari aside, all have fallen by the wayside, and seem to have been victim to mana issues as a sort of running “curse” throughout the playoffs.
2005-07 Precon Championships: Round 9 and the Leaderboard
This is it! At long last, the field has been narrowed from thirty-one decks to a final four. Ove the course of the 2005-07 season, we’ve seen decks from Ravnica Block, Coldsnap, Time Spiral Block, and Ninth Edition battle it out for the right to represent their randomly-seeded divisions in the semi-finals, all for the right for a shot at enduring glory as Champion.
