Announcing the Winner of “The Gifts that Keep on Giving” Contest!
A couple of weeks ago, we announced this year’s holiday giveaway, “The Gifts that Keep On Giving” contest, and we’ve been blown away by the participation. Tonight, it’s time to announce a winner.
I’d like to say that it was easy for Jimi, Sam, and I each to choose one story, but perhaps unsurprisingly it was quite a challenge. Some entries made us laugh out loud, while others gave us pause for thought, and prayers for better times ahead for the author. All in all, it’s clear that this has been quite an eventful year, for reasons both good and bad. By contrast, tapping into Random.org to find three more candidates was refreshingly easy- no agonising decisions there!
At last, it was down to the littlest member of the family to decide who was going to be awarded the massive prize package we’ve put together, consisting of a Holiday Gift Box, all eight issues of the first two IDW Magic: the Gathering series, six surprise Theme Decks, and few other thrown-in goodies.
Knowing the tremendous responsibility that lie ahead of him, Liam spent a good hour running around the farm picking up different things, getting good practice for the momentous event to come.
Then we wrote the names of all six finalists on festive holiday paper, folded them up, mixed them together, and set them out in a row on a festively-adorned stage. We also stationed a highly-trained guard dog nearby to safeguard the integrity of the competition.
The big moment is here! Liam is called over from the other side of the room to choose one. After looking over the row, his mind is made up.
Liam hands over his selection. He’s done great- all that practice in the field has paid off.
Voila! With the official slip in my hands, I head over to my desk to begin work on the announcement. But just one last thing to do- unwrap it!
Aaaaand the winner is…
Thanks again to everyone who entered, we really enjoyed putting this together. For those who didn’t win, we have another giveaway ending in a few days. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you might just want to.
Happy Holidays from the Ertai’s Lament family!
