2010-11 Precon Championships: Round 4 and the Leaderboard

Last weekend’s opening round of Tinsman Division action stumped our reader-predictors! The opening round of the Nagle Division saw a 61% accuracy rate in picking the winners of the matchups. Once the top four decks advanced to fight it out for the division, the predictions moved up to 67% accurate. Round One of the Tinsman? Forty-four percent. Without question, the relative lack of a steamroller powerhouse in the vein of War of Attrition helped explain the drop, but it’s also interesting to see how it affected the leaderboard.
The conventional wisdom on Doom Inevitable seemed to be that it was a touch slow, and the overwhelming favourite was M12’s Blades of Victory. Only a handful of readers tabbed the Blue-Black proliferator to take it, but the first game of the day led to a surprising upset. Next we saw Metalcraft triumph over Path of Blight, which saw our readers almost evenly split. Things picked up for the final two matches where the favourites carried the day. Feast of Flesh overcame the somewhat clunky Archenemy deck Assemble the Doomsday Machine, while M12’s Breath of Fire defeated the Myr of Mirrodin.
Last week we noted that the leaderboard is beginning to stratify, and a clear leader emerged in the form of Icehawk. Icehawk successfully picked three out of four matches and maintains his lead this week, though he has a pack of hungry participants at his very heels, eager to overtake him for their chance to win the Precon Championships Prize Package (one Intro Pack each from M12 and Innistrad). Congratulations are due as well to Varo, who was the only one to pick all four winners.
Here’s the adjested leaderboard. As always, should you suspect an omission or discrepancy, simply let us know and we’ll look into it!
With a total of nine rounds of exciting precon action, we’re a third of the way there! That means that if you’re reading this and you haven’t yet participated, it’s not too late to start. It’ll be an uphill climb, but with shrewd picking and a bit of luck, you can content for the winner’s crown!
With that saidm here are the next round of picks. The matches will be posted this coming Saturday, at which time (naturally) all predictions will be closed. We’ll need predictions for each of the two pairings below, and then of those two you’ve picked, which one will defeat the other and win the Tinsman Division. Links to the decklists are here: Doom Inevitable, Metalcraft, Feast of Flesh, Breath of Fire. Readers are also encouraged to visit our archives to brush up on how each deck performed in its review if they’d like additional information.
Remember, you get one point per correct guess, meaning there are three points up for grabs this week. Simply reply to this thread with your picks, and best of luck!

Oops, it looks like I missed the last round … and thus my chance to compete … anyway, no reason to leave the game entirely, here are my votes:
– Metalcraft
– Breath of Fire
–> Breath of Fire
Game 19: Doom Inevitable
20. Breath of Fire
Winner: Breath of Fire
After dropping the first two I went back and reread the play style.
1. Metalcraft(I don’t think Doom inevitable has it in it with how much difficulty it lost the game)
2. Breath of Fire simply because the remval suite is much more robust.
Final will be Breath of Fire. its too quick against Metalcraft, although I expect this to go three rounds.
Game 19: Doom Inevitable (MBS)
Game 20: Breath of Fire (M11)
Winner: Breath of Fire (M11)
Game 19: Metalcraft
Game 20: Breath of Fire
Finals: Breath of Fire
19) Doom
20) Feast

Breath of Fire (M11)
For the first match, Metalcraft will win if it can successfully drop an Argent Sphinx with 3 artifacts and a blue mana open to protect it or if Doom Inevitable mulligans in at least two games. Otherwise, Doom Inevitable will win.
The second match will be won by whichever deck has fewer mulligans. If it’s equal, Feast of Flesh will win.
Then the winner of Game 20 will defeat the winner of Game 19 in the last match.
Fun analysis! For the sake of the contest, what are the names of your three picks?
