2010-11 Precon Championships: Round 3 and the Leaderboard

What a weekend we had with the Preconstructed Deck Championships! In what will surely be one of the most startling upsets of the tournament, the Knights deck from Duel Deck: Knights vs Dragons first took down their archrival Dragons, then went on to defeat the Event Deck War of Attrition in a tense match that went the distance to three games. Many had hopes, but few had believed that Knights would emerge triumphant against so powerful a foe. Alas, the same could not be said for poor Deadspread, another underdog who fell as expected to War of Attrition.
Predictions were a little less uniform this time around. Knights versus Dragons was a bit of a toss-up, though most readers favoured Knights. Everyone had War of Attrition trouncing Deadspread for some easy points, but most called War of Attrition to win the Nagle Division. Six people can brag that their predictions were 100% for the round, picking up three points: Aaro, Icehawk, Prophylaxis, TheMaxican, Tony, and Joshua (in his first week!). With two rounds down, we now have a clear and unambiguous leader on the leaderboard, but Icehawk’s lead is paper-thin. Will he continue his success this coming week, or will another outguess him and claim the lead?
As always, kindly let us know if you feel there is a discrepancy, and we’ll be happy to verify!
With two rounds down, we still have plenty of precon action to go! Remember, there’s a total of thirty-one games needed to crown a champion. It’s not too late to jump in now even if you haven’t been participating yet. The winner, after all, will be getting a pair of Intro Packs- one from Magic 2012… and the other from Innistrad!
Now for the Next Round
For those ready to make their predictions, here are the matches!
You’ll be making four predictions, which means that four points are up for grabs (1 per correct guess). Tinsman Division action kicks off this Sunday, so you have until that post goes up to enter your predictions in the comments below. Best of luck to all!
1. Blades of Victory
2. Metalcraft
3. Assemble the Doomsday Machine
4. Myr of Mirrodin
Ok looking at the decklists here’s my prediction:
1. Blades of Victory- Cheap flying with no blockers in Doom Inevitable.
2. Path of Blight-Poison has the metal crafters beat in this instance
3.Feast of flesh-Assemble seems to be too slow with not enough cheap early blockers and with no schemes(deck only)
4. Breath of Fire- This one seems to be quicker on creatures
Allright, here are my votes:
1. Blades of Victory
2. Path of Blight
3. Doomsday Machine
4. Myr of Mirrodin

Breath of Fire.
1. Blades of Victory
2. Path of Blight
3. Assemble the Doomsday Machine
4. Myr of Mirrodin
A lack of fliers (unless you count Skinwing) and reliable removal spell doom for Doom, imo. 😛
Game 5: Blades of Victory
Game 6: Path of Blight
Game 7: REALLY unsure, but I guess I’ll throw my lot in with the Phyrexians here and go with Feast of Flesh.
Game 8: Got a soft spot for the myr, but all the burn Breath of Fire is packing looks like it’ll be too much for the cute little metallc dorks. Have to go with Breath.
Game 5: Blades of Victory (M11)
Game 6: Metalcraft (SOM)
Game 7: Assemble the Doomsday Machine (ARC)
Game 8: Breath of Fire (M11)

Blades of Victory
Path of Blight
Feast of Flesh
Breath of Fire
1) Blades of Victory
2) Path of Blight
3) Feast of Flesh
4) Breath of Fire
1 – Blades of Victory
2 – Path of Blight
3 – Doomsday Machine
4 – Breath of Fire
Doom Inevitable
Path of Blight
Feast of Flesh
Breath of Fire
Still missin’ those decklist links.
Feast of Flesh should have the advantage over Assemble the Doomsday Machine. The Archenemy deck can do a lot of funky things, but I think Feast’s density of creature removal will keep it on the back foot, provided it’s piloted well. I’ll cast my bet for Feast of Flesh.
I think the rest of the matches can go either way, so for all three, I’mma put my money on whichever deck wins the die roll to win.
Well these choices will wither sink me or pull me out if the basement. My four choices are:
5) Blades of Victory
6) Path of Blight
7) DOOOM!! Assemble the Doomsday Machine
8) Breath of Fire
Exciting matches, can’t wait to read them!
Let’s go…
5. Blades
6. Blight
7. Ooh, tough call… I’ll go with Doomsday Machine…
8. Myr
Blades of Victory
Metalcraft
Assemble the Doomsday Machine
Breath of Fire
Well, i’m taking some wild guesses here, but:
1. Blades of Victory
2. Path of Blight
3. Feast of Flesh
4. Breath of Fire
After studying the decks and writing down my picks, I realize these are going to be some close battles. Tough choices to make and went with my gut on some of these picks
5. Blades of Victory
6. Metalcraft
7. Assemble the Doomsday Machine
8. Myr of Mirroden
My predictions:
Game 5: Doom Inevitable
Game 6: Path of Blight
Game 7: Assemble the Doomsday Machine
Game 8: Breath of Fire
Blades of Victory.

Predictions are now closed. Good luck everyone!
