2007-2008 Precon Championships: Tinsman Division (Part 1 of 2)
Welcome to the glorious Tinsman Division! We’ve all but settled the Nagle, and now it’s time to look at the other half of the Rosewater Conference. Thanks to a shortage of decks in the ’07-’08 season, there are two byes in the division. That means we have an abbreviated first round of action, with only two games to show for our weekend action. Still, that’s the end of the road for two of the decks- but which two will it be?
Duels of the Planeswalkers (2009) Expansion Pack 3: Root of the Firemind Review (Part 1 of 2)
When you consider the flavour text of cards in Magic, some tend to stick in the mind more than others. Sometimes they’re profound, such as with Double Negative:
They feared each other for their differences but were absolutely terrified at their similarities.
…or Intruder Alarm:
One footstep among many is silent. One footstep alone is deafening.
Darksteel: Master Blaster Review (Part 2 of 2)
It’s our last visit to the world of Mirrodin for awhile, as we’re concluding with Darksteel and likely won’t be back until Fifth Dawn. It’s been a fun return, and we’re ending on a high with a look at Master Blaster. To try and thwart me, Jimi’s grabbed the modular-filled Transference. Which deck will come out on top?
2007-08 Precon Championships: Round 3 and the Leaderboard
Welcome back to our ongoing coverage of the 2007-08 Preconstructed Championships! We’re now about a quarter of the way through, with this past weekend’s action having given us a winner of the Nagle Division. Evincar’s Tyranny proved a surprising upset that caught many of our predictors off-guard, but plenty of points were picked up all the same.
Darksteel: Master Blaster Review (Part 1 of 2)
Gen-X quiz time! Imagine for a moment that you’re a young musician in a rock band. You get up on a Saturday morning, head with your friends to your rehearsal space, and begin jamming out to your signature tune. Suddenly, a nearby mirror clouds over, and a sinister figure declares that he’s kidnapping you to a fantasy realm, where you’ll be transformed into cartoon characters and forced to play as his ‘musical slaves… forever!’ It might sound preposterous, but hey, this was the stuff of pop culture television in the early 80’s. The show was Kidd Video, and the villain? Well…

Darksteel: Swarm & Slam Review (Part 2 of 2)
It’s go time for the tokens deck as Swarm & Slam takes the field. Joining me at the table is Jimi, who is piloting Mind Swarm. Which deck will come out on top? We find out as we put Swarm & Slam to the test!
2007-2008 Precon Championships: Nagle Division (Part 2 of 2)
Last week was the opening-round action for the 2007-08 Preconstructed Championships, and as always we began with the Nagle Division. Because of the number of byes in this season’s tournament, we only had three matches on offer. The fourth deck, Warrior’s Code from Morningtide, advanced without opposition. Today it won’t be so lucky.
